The lead locomotive is a Southwestern Railroad EMD GP28 (the Southwestern Railroad and the Cimarron Valley Railroad share the same parent company). The second locomotive, belonging to the CVR, is an EMD GP30, a model that the CVR has always been particularly fond of.

Description:  The two locomotives owned by the cutely-named Right Cooperative Association 110 car shuttle elevator sit next to BNSF's sleepy La Junta Sub on a nice Saturday morning in Wright, Kansas. The 101 is a former Norfolk Southern, Norfolk & Western GP9 rebuilt with a Caterpilar 12 cylinder engine. The green locomotive behind the 101 is a former Burlington Northern GP9B.

Description:  Abilene, Kansas is lucky enough to have all 3 of the railroad depots that once served it still standing and in use. Here's a view of the former CRI&P (Rock Island) depot, which is located on the site of the Old Abilene Town, a tourist attraction containing a series of buildings designed to replicate the look and feel of the town in the 1800s. This depot also functions as headquarters of the Abilene & Smokey Valley Railroad, a non-profit organization that operates over 10 miles of track between Abilene and Enterprise, Kansas.

Description:  This is the sign passengers on CB&Q (Burlington) trains once saw when they approached Wymore, Nebraska. A lot has changed in this town since this sign was along the tracks. The tracks aren't even there anymore - they were abandoned and ripped up in 2003 by CB&Q successor BNSF.
