Jamestown Local
Title:  Jamestown Local
Description:  Though you need to squint to see the entire Jamestown Local spread out on the famed bridge the Northern Pacific built across the Sheyenne River in Valley City, North Dakota, it should be pretty apparent how imposing the 3,860 foot long structure is and how far away you have to be to get it in one camera frame. The Great Northern built a shorter, but highly similar, bridge about 30 miles upstream from here near Luverne. BNSF 8108
Title:  BNSF 8108
Description:  The ex-BN 9208 and two Oakway SD60s pull a coal train east through Motley at the site of an ugly collision and derailment a few months ago. The lead SD60M on this train should hold a special place in the hearts of Burlington Northern fans, as it was the last ex-BN SD60M to avoid getting a BNSF patch. Fate finally caught up to it, however, in November 2007, when it was was transformed from the BN 9208 into the BNSF 8108.

Troubled Empire Builder
Title:  Troubled Empire Builder
Description:  A beleaguered Empire Builder pulls around the west leg of the wye at West Grand Forks and into the depot to pick up and drop off approximately 25 passengers. At this point, the train is about 11 hours late, partly as a result of hitting a pickup truck about 30 miles west of here near the former town of Shawnee, ND. Although the station stop at Grand Forks only lasted 5 minutes, the train ended up spending about 4 hours in town after the lead locomotive lost its main reservoir pressure not more than 30 seconds after officially departing the station. Once the train finally did leave Grand Forks with a rearranged consist, its crew died on hours, causing a further delay until a relief crew from over 200 miles away in St. Cloud, MN could continue to pull the train east. All in all, it took the train an unbelievable 9 hours and 43 minutes to travel between Devils Lake, ND and Fargo ND; it should take about 2 hours and 42 minutes.
